I switched from a browser adblocker to a DNS sinkhole — the difference was immediate

Like most people, my solution to blocking ads and pop-ups was simple. Install the uBlock Origin extension in my browser and forget about it. It worked well enough, pages loaded without popups, YouTube glitched every now and then, and that's about it. It was technically protection, but only for the one browser I used daily on my computer. Everything else on my home network was exposed.
