Twitter has introduced an even more focused form of geo-targeted ads in time for the UK’s general election in May. Advertisers are now able to direct their tweets at users in specific postcodes. With the prospect of an extremely tight election on the cards, political campaigners will welcome the ability to target specific groups in marginal constituencies and swing seats. Twitter advertisers in the UK were already able to focus their campaigns on specific regional areas, such as the East Midlands, the North West and South East England, as well as metropolitan areas like Birmingham, Liverpool-Manchester, London and Glasgow.
