[The Next Web] Ello experiences first major outage, confusingly can’t decide if maintenance or DDoS attack is to blame

Social networking site Ello went down today. The new service has been available for just over a month, but already it is running into problems that many social networks experience in their early days. Visiting any of the site’s pages currently results in the following error message: “The site is currently unavailable while we conduct some necessary maintenance. Follow along for any updates on our status page.” Yet according to Ello’s status page page, the outage was not due to maintenance: “We are undergoing a potential denial of service attack.” The company started investigating the issue at 4:15 PM EST....
