[The Next Web] Noticed your new Dell laptop smells like cat urine? You’re not alone

Have you recently purchased a new Dell laptop that has an odd smell to it? You’re probably not alone. A thread that’s quickly growing on the Dell support forums has users reporting that their laptops have an odd smell reminiscent of cat urine.

The thread — which is now over six pages long — has a slew of posts from users reporting that after purchasing a new Dell 6430u they began to believe that their cat had been spraying on the laptop after detecting a strong odor from the machine. One user even allegedly had their cat put down to try and solve the “unbearable” stench.

Dell has acknowledged the problem saying it is “not a health hazard” nor is the issue caused by a feline and that it will have a fix for those with the problem soon.
